Tailgate Back-Up Camera Relocation
360 & Non-360 kit variants. Relocates the factory backup camera when a tire carrier, camper, or flatbed blocks or replaces the tailgate.
- Tundra 360 Kit — For Tundras with the PVM 360 Camera Package. You have this if cameras are visible in your side mirrors or front grille, or if your infotainment has a "SurroundView" bird's-eye mode. Cable: 9 ft 9 in.
- Tundra Non-360 Kit — For Tundras without the 360 package. The tailgate handle camera is your only backup camera. No side mirror cameras or front grille camera. Cable: 10 ft.
Not sure which you have? Check your side mirrors for a small embedded camera lens near the bottom of each housing. If present — you have the 360 package.
🔧 Tools & Materials Required
Step 1–4 — Remove the Camera from the Tailgate
- 1Remove the tailgate trim panel. Using a Torx T30 driver, remove all T30 screws. Locate the top trim piece — it slides slightly underneath the main trim before clipping in. Pull upward to release it, then shimmy it off. Do not pull straight out or you may break the clips.
- 2Disconnect the camera connector. Locate the gray connector with red and green wires. Unclip it from the harness and route it free from any retaining clips.
- 3Remove the camera bracket. Two Phillips screws secure the bracket to the tailgate. Remove both and lift the bracket away.
- 4Remove the camera module from the bracket. Using a Torx T6 driver, remove the two small T6 screws securing the module. Set them aside carefully. The module is now free.
You will be reusing your OEM camera module. A replacement requires recalibration at a Toyota dealership.
Step 5–6 — Install Camera into the GG Offroad Mount
- 5Select the correct retention clip. Test-fit the larger clip first. If it is too loose or the module does not seat firmly, switch to the thinner clip.
- 6Mount the camera module. Orient correctly: clip side down, alignment keys facing down, printed text on the camera face readable right-side up from behind the truck. Slide the module into the housing, press the retention clip flush, and tug gently to confirm it is locked.
Step 7–9 — Connect the Cable Under the Truck
All connections are made underneath the truck near the spare tire. No lift required.
- 7Locate the distribution block. Find the spare tire under the bed. To the left of it is the Toyota distribution block where the GG Offroad cable plugs in.
- 8Connect the GG Offroad cable. The Non-360 cable has two connectors: the middle connector (LVDS video signal) and the CANBUS connector (red & green wires — clears the dash warning triangle). The 360 kit uses a single plug. Press each connector firmly until it clicks and give a gentle tug to confirm seating.
⚠ Both connectors must be plugged in. The CANBUS connector is what clears the dash warning triangle.
- 9Test before mounting. Start the truck, shift into reverse, and confirm the camera image appears, backup guidelines are displayed, and no warning triangle is shown. If anything is missing, reseat the connectors before continuing.
Step 10–13 — Mount the Camera & Manage the Cable
- 10Mark and drill mounting holes. Hold the mount against your chosen surface. Mark one center hole (1-inch diameter for cable pass-through) and two side holes for fasteners. Center-punch all three marks, then drill with a step bit set to 1-inch depth.
- 11Install the mount. Pass the cable connector through the center hole. Align the side holes and insert stainless fasteners from the front. Thread nyloc nuts from the back and tighten securely.
- 12Manage the cable. Route excess cable in large, gentle loops — never tight bends or kinks. Zip tie to the existing Toyota harness every 6–12 inches. Maintain a minimum bend radius of ~2 inches. The cable uses foil-shielded twisted pair — kinking it can permanently damage signal integrity.
- 13Cap any unused connectors. Wrap exposed connector ends fully with electrical tape and secure to a nearby harness with a cable tie to keep moisture out.

Tailgate Back-Up Camera Relocation
Two kit variants covered: Tailgate-On (keep tailgate functional) and Tailgate-Delete (for campers & flatbeds).
🔧 Tools You'll Need
- Tailgate-Delete Kit — For complete tailgate removal (slide-in campers, flatbeds). Easiest install — fully plug-and-play, no splicing.
- Tailgate-On Kit — Keep your tailgate and all factory functions (locks, lights, auto up/down). Requires a simple waterproof wire splice under the truck.
Option A — Tailgate Delete (Easier)
Choose this if you are removing the tailgate completely — for a slide-in camper, flatbed conversion, or high-clearance setup.
- 1Disconnect the factory tailgate connector underneath the truck by pressing in the latch and pulling it straight out.
- 2Remove the factory tailgate camera and plug it directly into the GG Offroad main cable.
- 3Connect the included tailgate adapter to the GG Offroad cable. This adapter is an exact match for the factory tailgate connector on your truck — no modification needed.
- 4Plug the adapter into the truck's factory tailgate connector port. Install complete.
- 5Mount the camera at your desired location and test the backup view on your screen.
Option B — Tailgate-On (Keep Full Tailgate Function)
Choose this to keep your tailgate installed and maintain all factory functions — locks, lighting, auto up/down. Requires a waterproof wire splice under the truck.
- 1Disconnect the factory tailgate connector underneath the truck: press the latch, pull back, and remove.
- 2Un-loom a few inches of the factory harness to expose the twisted white/red pair — these are the camera signal wires. Do not use other white wires in the bundle.
- 3From the GG Offroad cable, cut off the oval connector, leaving just the red and black wires.
- 4Splice the wires with heat shrink solder connectors, maintaining these pairings:
- Toyota White → GG Red
- Toyota Red → GG Black
Tip: Cap the cut tailgate-side wire ends with heat shrink so you can easily revert later.
- 5Re-loom the harness with Tesa tape, routing the GG Offroad cable neatly alongside the factory harness.
- 6Plug the factory tailgate connector back into the truck and lock it with the lever lock. Plug the GG Offroad cable into the now-unused tailgate connector port.
- 7Mount the camera and test: verify backup guidelines appear, no dash error messages, and all tailgate functions work normally.
