Defective cables are replaced at no charge. The warranty covers manufacturing defects. Damage caused by improper installation, sharp bends in the cable, or cutting the harness is not covered. If you're experiencing issues, email us and Austin will walk you through troubleshooting before determining if a replacement is needed. Note: cables sold over 23 ft do not qualify for warranty as the extra length is a risk to signal integrity.

DRV + Bed Camera Relocation Kit

When you add a topper, canopy, or camper shell to your Toyota, both the Digital Rearview Mirror camera and the bed/cargo camera are blocked because they live in the 3rd brake light housing on your cab roof. This kit extends the factory camera cables so both cameras can be relocated to the rear of your topper. Your Digital Rearview Mirror works exactly as factory — same image quality, same interface, same backup guidelines. Note: cameras are not included. You reuse your existing factory Toyota cameras.
Tundra 3rd Gen (2022–2026) and Tacoma 4th Gen (2024–2026) including TRD Off-Road, Trailhunter, TRD Pro, Hybrid, and Limited trims. Your truck must have the Digital Rearview Mirror — the mirror that shows a live camera feed rather than a standard reflection. Does not fit 3rd Gen Tacoma (2016–2023), Sequoia, 4Runner, or non-Toyota vehicles.
  • Suction Cup (most popular) — adheres to interior glass, no drilling, fully removable. Best for fiberglass and aluminum toppers with a rear window. Austin runs this on his own truck.
  • External Mount — mounts outside the topper on a T-slot rail or through a drilled hole. Best for GFC, rooftop tents, or setups where the rear window is fully blocked.
  • Pivot Arm — self-tapping screws into the interior ceiling of a fiberglass shell. Fixed and permanent. Best for Leer, ARE, and SnugTop.
Not sure which to pick? Email us with your topper model and Austin will point you to the right option.
The easiest check: if your rearview mirror has a small display screen built into it that shows a live camera feed when you reverse, you have DRV. It's available on TRD Pro, Capstone, and 1794 Edition Tundra trims, and TRD Pro and higher on the 4th Gen Tacoma (also available as an add-on on some others). Still unsure? Email your year and trim and Austin will confirm.
Yes, though it is easier before the topper goes on. If already installed, slide the topper back 2–3 feet to access the CHMSL in the headliner, or purchase a second short Toyota camera harness to avoid touching the CHMSL entirely. Most installs take 2–4 hours.
In almost every case, yes. Cables reach the rear of a full-size Tundra Crew Max with a 6.5 ft bed. Customers with Supertramp campers, Alu-Cab canopies, GFC toppers, and rooftop tents have all confirmed sufficient length. Custom lengths are sometimes available — email us to discuss. Note: cables over 23 ft do not qualify for warranty due to signal integrity risk.
On Tacoma kits, the brown connector goes to the bed camera socket and the grey connector goes to the DRV camera socket. On Tundra kits, both connectors use the same housing — swap them if one camera is not working. Swapping these two short harnesses is the number one fix for no image after install.
Only if your topper has its own third brake light that needs to activate when you brake. The DRV kit moves your cameras. The Brake Light Tap Cable is a separate product that connects your topper's brake light to your truck's factory signal. If your topper has no brake light, you do not need the tap cable.
Try these troubleshooting steps in order:
  • Loose connection — Disconnect and reconnect the camera and the extension cable joint to ensure a solid connection.
  • Water ingress — Check for moisture or corrosion at external connections. Use the included heat shrink for outside-the-vehicle installs.
  • Pinched or kinked cable — Ensure the harness isn't pinched under the truck or bent at a sharp angle. Aim for a minimum 3–4 inch bend radius.
  • Aftermarket dash camera interference — Try temporarily unplugging all aftermarket accessories to isolate the issue.
If none of these resolve it, email sales@ggoffroad.com to discuss a replacement.
Yes. You'll need the camera module and a second short Toyota harness so you only need to open the headliner and plug in the extensions — no removing the CHMSL. Toyota part numbers:
  • Tacoma DRV Camera: 867C0-AK010
  • Tacoma Bed Camera: 86790-AK060 (varies by trim)
  • Tundra Camera Module: 867C0-0C010
  • Tundra Bed View Module: 86790-0C250
  • Tundra Camera Harness (works on both): 86797-0C360
Order from a trusted OEM supplier like Sparks Parts. Email us if you need help identifying the right part for your trim.
Yes! The hybrid follows the same installation process with no issues. You may need to pull more trim for access, but the grommet placement is the same. The Tacoma install video features a hybrid during the installation.
Currently, there are no aftermarket cameras known to work seamlessly with the OEM harness for the 2025 Toyota Tacoma. For this reason, reusing your existing stock camera is the recommended solution.
Yes. You can purchase additional OEM cameras from Toyota and use the kit to connect the new cameras to your desired location — keeping your existing cameras in their original positions while adding new relocated ones. Unfortunately there isn't an easy plug-and-play way to switch between the two setups. The simplest method is to route both camera connections to the headliner and manually swap the cables as needed.
Yes, completely normal. The male connectors for the short camera cable are designed to be tight when connecting to the extension cable. While they may feel hard to insert or remove at first, this ensures a secure, vibration-resistant connection over the long term.
Yes. You'll also need the short camera harness that lives inside the 3rd brake light housing. By ordering a second harness and camera, you only need to open the headliner and plug in the extensions — no removing the CHMSL or cameras at all.

Brake Light Tap Cable

It plugs into the factory CHMSL connector in your headliner and gives you a clean brake signal and a white illumination signal to wire your topper's third brake light. No cutting, no splicing, no signal interference. Your factory third brake light on the cab continues to work normally.
On 2022+ Tundra and 2024+ Tacoma, the tail light shares its circuit with the turn signal. Tapping it causes your topper's brake light to flash every time you use a turn signal — which is illegal and annoying. The CHMSL connector in the headliner uses a dedicated separate circuit, which is the correct place to tap.
  • Red wire — outputs 12V when the brake pedal is pressed
  • Yellow wire — outputs 12V when the white CHMSL illumination light is on
  • Black wire — ground
Both red and yellow outputs are fully compatible with low-draw LED lights.
Yes. Many customers use the cable to power LED strips in the bed tied to the brake and illumination signals. Works well as long as you're running LEDs with low current draw.

Tailgate Camera Relocation Cable

When a swing-out bumper, spare tire carrier, or hitch-mounted rack blocks your factory backup camera — or when you remove your tailgate entirely for a slide-in camper — your backup camera stops working. This cable extends the factory tailgate camera signal so you can mount the camera in a new location. Backup guidelines and factory camera functionality are retained.
  • Tailgate-On version — if you are keeping your tailgate attached to the truck (swing-out carrier, tire carrier, etc.)
  • Tailgate-Delete version — if you are removing your tailgate entirely (slide-in camper, flatbed, swing-out replacement). Includes an additional adapter cable to clear CAN bus error messages.
Ordering the wrong version is the most common mistake. If unsure, email Austin before ordering and he'll point you to the right one.
Yes — without the proper adapter cable you will see system warnings because the truck communicates with the tailgate over a CAN bus connection. The tailgate-delete version of the cable includes the adapter needed to clear these errors. If you are keeping your tailgate on, you will not have this issue.
Yes. We have two Tundra tailgate kit variants — one for trucks with the 360 package and one without. The Tacoma kit works for trucks with or without the 360 package. Make sure you select the correct variant when ordering. Email us if unsure which applies to your truck.
No. You reuse your existing factory backup camera from the tailgate. Austin recommends using the original factory camera to avoid Toyota reprogramming. If you need a replacement, email us with your trim and Austin can identify the correct factory part number.
Yes. Unlike the DRV kit, the tailgate camera cable works entirely from the rear of the truck and does not require dropping the headliner or accessing the 3rd brake light. It's one of the simpler installs in the GG Offroad lineup — typically under an hour for both variants.
